At the age of 17, he moved to Orense, Spain, where he lived for about 18 years until coming to the United States and settling in North Adams. Mr. Canitrot was employed by the former General Cable Co. in Williamstown, retiring in 1987. Before that, he worked for the former Conalco Inc. He enjoyed sports, especially horse racing, boxing and soccer. His wife, the former Shirley M. Bourell, whom he married May 2, 1964, died on August 28, 1997 He leaves a son, Jose M. Canitrot of North Adams; a daughter, Cristina M. Hickey of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Carmen Canitrot Rivero and Angelina Canitrot, both of Spain, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two stepchildren, Michelle M. Crews and David F. Champagne, are deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Jose Canitrot, who died June 19, 2004, will be Tuesday, June 22, at 10 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 W. Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in the family lot in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 6 to 8. She was a member of the Winchester Grange #74, and VFW Ladies Auxiliary #296. Ginger was a beautiful woman with a fun-loving spirit and a positive outlook on life. She was always busy; and enjoyed gardening, and cooking. She had a passion for wildlife and liked feeding, watching and taking pictures of them. Edward "Ed" Chatfield, 87, of Winchester, CT, passed away on Sunday June 22, 2014. He was born April 2, 1927, to the late Edward Chatfield and Lepha (Crosier) Chatfield. He was predeceased by Virginia (Boutin) Chatfield, his wife, of 64 years. After growing up in the Gilbert Home in Winsted, Ed worked for the Connecticut State Highway Department, Kenwood Tree Service, and O&G, until he retired. Ed served in the US Army during The Korean War as a Carpenter in the 808 Engineer Aviation Battalion He was a member of the Winchester Grange #74, and VFW #296. Ed was known as a great mechanic and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed gardening, his neighbors and country western music. Ed is survived by four children: Gwendolyn "Wendy" Hayes of Winsted; Edward "Kirby" Chatfield, Jr., of Hawaii; Jeff Chatfield of Winchester; and Terrence "Terry" Chatfield, of Ashburn, Virginia. In addition, he is survived by seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Luana Chatfield, Marion Daigneault, Stanley Griswold, and Fred Chatfield. From : The Durango Hearald Durango resident, Louis Manning Rancatti died Sunday, March 27, 2011. He was 83. Known as "Rann," he was born to Angelo A. and Grace Leb Manning Rancatti on April 19, 1927, in North Adams, Mass. Mr. Rancatti joined the Navy in 1943 and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He spent some time in the Aleutian Islands during the war. During the Korean War, Mr. Rancatti was stationed on a minesweeper. Shortly after the Korean War, he enlisted in the Marines. During Mr. Rancatti’s career in the military, he served as a drill sergeant in San Diego. During the Vietnam War, he was in construction engineering. Mr. Rancatti retired as a gunnery sergeant in 1968, having received two Purple Hearts and several other medals. He met Patricia Bowen in Long Beach, Calif., and they married in 1959 in Las Vegas. In 1972, the Rancatti family moved to Bayfield, where they owned and operated the Blue Spruce Trailer Park at the north end of Vallecito Reservoir. His family said many of Mr. Rancatti’s recruits and the seasonal residents of the Blue Spruce kept in contact with him over the years. In 1989, Mr. and Mrs. Rancatti built a home on Florida Mesa. Mr. Rancatti enjoyed tending his garden and orchard of more than 500 fruit trees. His family said he found great enjoyment in supplying apples to many friends and acquaintances. Mr. Rancatti was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Rancatti. In 2004, he married Patricia Ryan in Durango. The couple moved to Dalton Ranch in 2008. Mr. Rancatti is survived by his wife of seven years, Patricia Ryan Rancatti, of Durango; son, Charles B. "Chuck" Rancatti, of Durango; daughters Ruth Schwartz of Durango and Patricia Holley of Phoenix; sisters Grace Iglesias of Southwick, Mass., and Irene Boyd of Holland, Mass.; brother, Everett "Sandy" Herrick, of Holland; and two granddaughters. At Mr. Rancatti’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Her parents; a son, Randall L. Elliott; a daughter, Debra Sweeney; and a brother preceded her in death. Mrs. Elliott grew up in Roseville, graduated from Roseville High School, attended St. Francis School of Nursing in Macomb and served as a nurse in the Army during World War II. She was also employed as a registered nurse and supervisor at Monmouth Hospital and Community Memorial Hospital for 30 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and its Deborah Circle. On Aug. 14, 1884, she was united in marriage to Frank H. Crosier, who preceded her in death April 19, 1931. She was a member of ihe Plattsburgh Baptist church until she went to live with her sister when she transfered her letter to the West Plattsburgh Baptist church. Besides her sister Mrs. Crosier is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Lee, Inlet, and Mrs. A. Robert Lee of Kansas City, Mo., also a granddaughter, Jane Elizabeth Lee, R.N., of Kansas City. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from her late home.
