WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - James Alan Witherell Sr., 69, of 88 Nutmeg Lane died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after being stricken at work. Mr. Witherell was a bus driver for Dufour Inc.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 9, 1939, son of James Arthur Witherell and Ethel Davis Witherell Parrott, he attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School. He also attended Berkshire Community College, studying criminal justice.
He was an Army veteran.
Mr. Witherell was a lieutenant in the security department at the former General Electric Co., retiring in 1993. He first drove trucks for Spencer Mobile Home Co. on the Mohawk Trail and for Old Colony Trucking Co. in Lee after leaving the service.
He loved camping and was a member of the Good Sam Club. He was also a member of the North Adams Elks and was a longtime member of the Berkshire County Deputy Sheriffs Association. Mr. Witherell was an organ and tissue donor.
He and his wife, the former Ruth Scace, were married April 14, 1962, in Pownal, Vt.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, James A. Witherell Jr. of Pittsfield, Eugene Witherell of Williamstown and Kent Witherell of Tallasee, Ala.; a daughter, Kathryn Witherell of Pittsfield; three brothers, Robert Witherell of Adam, Richard Witherell of Dalton and David Witherell of Williamstown, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Another son, Keith Allyn Witherell, died in 2002.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mr. Witherell will be conducted Monday, Aug. 3, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, by the with Rev. Susan Stewart.
Calling hours will be Monday morning from 9 until the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.

NORTH ADAMS -- Marie Florence Trudeau, 87, of 45 Spring St. died Thursday at Sweet Brook Transitional Care & Health Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in Albany, N.Y., on March 8, 1919, daughter of Louis and Mary Denno Senecal, she attended Clarksburg schools and Drury High School. She was employed by the former Cornish Wire Co. in Williamstown for 14 years, retiring in 1974. Before that, she worked at the former Sprague Electric, Gale Shoe and Wall Streeter Shoe companies. Following her retirement, she joined her husband, Raymond Trudeau, in a property management business. She enjoyed playing cards, reading and music. Her husband, whom she married in 1971, died March 22, 1983. She leaves two daughters, Kathy J. Lararczykof North Adams and Joanne M. Schindler of Lakeland, Fla.; a son, Michael F. Brouillette of Seven Stars, Pa.; a brother, William Senecal of Clarksburg; 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Miss Jane Shaner. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. K. Shaner, of 124 Roumfort road, Mount Airy and Lieutenant cj'gJ David Wiley Hilsee. U. S. C. G., son of Mrs. Charles M. Hilsee, of Brookline blvd.', Brookline, were married Saturday evening at 7.30 P. M. in the Mount Airy Presbyterian Church. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Theodore Meek, pastor of the church.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was gowned in white silk crepe trimmed in lace and her finger-tip length veil of tulle fell from a coronet of lace. Her bridal bouquet of white roses surrounded an orchid corsage.
Mrs. Margaret Robinson, of Mount Airy was the matron of honor and the bridesmaids were
Mrs. Charles Mauck and Miss Nancy Marquahar. of Philadelphia. Their gowns were of net
over taffeta, the matron of honor wearing bronze and the brides maids a soft shade of green. They carried bouquets of harmonizing flowers.
Mrs. Shaner, the mother of the bride was attired in aqua crepe with matching feathered hat. The groom's mother, Mrs. Hilsee. were fuschia crepe with hairdress of silver and their corsages were of orchids.
Charles Crosier Hilsee, U. S. N., brother of the groom acted as best man and the ushers were Donald Shaner, U. S. N., brother of the bride and C. Hyatt King, of Narberth.
A reception at the home of the bride's parents followed the ceremony, after which the couple left on a wedding trip to the Poconos.
They wiI reside in New York.
The bride is a graduate of Germantown High School. Lieutenant Hilsee. who received his wings on January 21st at Pensacola. Fla., will be stationed at Floyd Bennett Field. N. Y. He is a graduate of Haverford Township High School and the University of Pennsylvania.

David W. Hilsee, 84, of Lancaster, formerly of Erdenheim, died Saturday morning at Lancaster General Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Jane Shaner Hilsee, and the son of the late Cora Crosier Hilsee and Charles M. Hilsee.
Mr. Hilsee grew up in Havertown and attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1941. He served in the Coast Guard during WWII. He enjoyed a 42 year career as comptroller of Container Corporation of America before his retirement in June 1988. He was an active member of Saint Mark's Methodist Church in Erdenheim.
He is survived by four children, Linda Hilsee Coady of Flourtown, David W. Hilsee Jr. of Mobile, Alabama, Tina Hilsee of Lancaster, Catherine Hilsee of Oreland; a brother, Charles C. Hilsee of Winter Garden, FL, and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at Fort Washington Memorial Park. Any remembrances can be made to the charity of one's choice.
