Miss Maudie L. Stone Wed to Levi Snell Chapman
The marriage of Miss Maudie Lorena Stone of 525 5th St. and Levi Snell Chapman of Syracuse took place last evening in the Park Slope Congregational Church of Brooklyn. Dr. Frederick Peters of Holbrook, N. Y., and the Rev. John Harrer, pastor of the church, officiated at the ceremony, which was followed by a reception in the church parlors.
Miss Stone, who was given in marriage by her cousin, Louis Talcott Stone, wore a gown of Alencon lace, with cape sleeves, and a tulle veil held by a cap of rose point, which belonged to her grandmother, fastened by orange blossoms and bordered with Dutchess lace. She carried white roses, valley lilies and maiden hair ferns. Her only attendant was her cousin, Mrs. Cora Crosier Fillsce of Philadelphia, who wore a gown of printed chiffon, and a draped toque of green straw and silver slippers. She carried talisman roses and maiden hair fern.
The best man was Mr. Chapman's son, Charles R. Chapman, and the ushers were Dr. Horace Mann Snyder, William Reed, Lt. Richard Channing Moore, Arthur F. Hebard Jr., Stanton G. Litchfield, Raymond Bowen and Paul Dix Jones.
Miss Stone, the daughter of the late Dr. Lewis Porter and Cora Catherine Crosier Stone, was a teacher of physical training, economics and civics in the Manual Training High School. She is a member of the Vermont chapter of the Mayflower Society and the Brattleboro chapter of the D.A.R. She attended Houghton Seminary, Lasell Seminary and was graduated from Dr. Sargent's School of Physical Education. Mr. Chapman is a graduate of Syracuse University and a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity and the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He served as a trustee of that university for 20 years, and was a member of the New York State Assembly for one term. He is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Mr. and Mrs. Chapman will sail Thursday on the Columbia for a cruise to Haiti, Jamaica, Columbia and Panama, and after Sept. 1, will reside at 321 Westcott St., Syracuse.
