In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister. She was a member of Walnut Grove Methodist Church. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Walnut Grove Methodist Church with Pastor Diane Duncan officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Walnut Grove Methodist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice. |

Published in The Berkshire Eagle on June 12, 2004: LANESBORO -- Earl F. Appleton Sr., 74, of 33 Grove St. died at his home Thursday. Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 10, 1929, son of Herbert D. and Evelyn G. Herrick Appleton, he was a 1947 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He served with the National Guard for three years and then with the Navy in the construction battalion for three years. He was employed for 38 years at Lipton Steel in Pittsfield, retiring in 1987 as a shop supervisor. Mr. Appleton was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, a lifetime member of the Elks Post 272 and a member of the Lanesboro Lions Club where he had been awarded the Melvin Jones Award. He was also an avid sportsman. He leaves his wife, the former Beverly Connors, whom he married June 14, 1952. Survivors include his two sons, Earl F. Appleton Jr. of Hinsdale and Michael Appleton of Lanesboro; a sister, Charlotte M. Cahalen of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Earl F. Appleton Sr., who died on June 10, 2004, will be Monday at 10 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with the Rev. Gwen Sears officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Sunday from 2 to 5. Crosier on 16 Nov. 1841 in Searsburg, Bennington Co VT. Their daughter Cornelia Olivia Crosier was m. to George E. Ballou, Joseph Leonard Ballou and Arthur Graves. Malona was the daughter of Samuel Brown and Phebe Coolidge. I posted part of the diary of Cornelia Ballou's and will post more, if in looking back in the archives, anyone wants to see more. Both Joseph and George served in the C.W. as well as two of Cornelia's brothers, one being killed in action (James K. Polk Crosier).
