WOLCOTT - Peter J. Knappe, 81, of East Main Street, Waterbury, formerly of Wolcott, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 15, 2012, with his loving family by his side at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Mary (Grygorcewicz) Knappe.
Born in Pittsfield, Mass., on Nov. 14, 1930, he was the son of the late Peter and Anna (Poplaski) Knappe. He was employed by Tilcon Tomasso in New Britain for 24 years, retiring in 1995. Afterward he was employed at Lake Compounce and Lake Quassy Amusement Parks as "Captain Pete" who ran the "Mark Twain Boat" and was the railway conductor.
First and foremost, Peter was a devoted family man with lots of jokes under his belt. He was well known for his yodeling skills. He also had a boat that he pulled many a water skier around on Otis Reservoir. He and Mary enjoyed working at the snack bar and had many good times at the Woodbury Mountain Ski Area.
Besides his wife, Mary, of 59 years, Peter is survived by his three sons, Stanley and his wife Louise Knappe of Ludlow, Mass., Thomas and his wife Eileen of Wolcott, Peter A. and his wife Amy of Waterbury; two daughters, Mary Knappe of Canton, Conn., Susan and her husband David Lozier of Terryville; seven grandchildren, Kelly and her husband Douglas Thompson, Timothy Lozier and his wife Jill, Benjamin Dubiel, Ronnie, Noah and Aidan Knappe, Joey Murphy; and two great grandchildren, Andrew and Holly. He was also loved and will be missed by brothers and sisters-in-law and all of their families. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald Knappe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church, 1300 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, followed by burial in Woodtick Cemetery. Calling hour is Thursday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 690 Woodtick Road, Wolcott.

Janina Kazmiera Poplaski, 62, of 109 Summer St. died Sunday at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Poland on Dec. 29, 1943, daughter of Walter and the late Antonia Kaczmarek Kochanski, she moved to the United States as a child and moved to Adams, attending St. Stanislaus Kostka School and later graduating from the former Adams High School in 1961.
She was a homemaker most of her life.
For a short periods of her life she lived in Texas and in Maryland, moving back to Adams in 1998.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Adams and enjoyed reading, flower gardening and nature.
Besides her father of Adams, with whom she made her home, she leaves four sons, Timothy Poplaski of Woodford, Vt., Douglas Poplaski of Mont Belvieu, Texas, Donald Poplaski, also of Texas, and Wayne Poplaski of Federalsburg, Md.; three brothers, John Kochanski, Walter Kochanski Jr. and Richard Kochanski, all of Adams; a sister, Irene Gilman of Adams; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Janina Kazmiera Poplaski, who died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, will take place Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Community of Adams, officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date to be announced in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Donations in her memory can be made to VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220.
She leaves three daughters-in-law, Lisa Poplaski, M. Sandy Poplaski, and Theresa Poplaski; a brother-in-law, Robert Gilman of Adams; six grandchildren, Samantha, Kyle, Joshua, Steven, Jacob, and Zack Longworth Poplaski; one great-grandchild, Skylar Poplaski; three nephews, Chad and Cory Gilman and Gregory Kochanski; two nieces, Kim Gilman and Michelle Poplaski; and several grand nephews. A brother, Jerry Kochanski, died in infancy.

Amy Diane (Kolar) Tucker passed from this earthly life on May 23, 2014.
Amy was born on the day man first walked on the moon, July 20, 1969, in Kirkwood (St. Louis County), Mo., and passed away in Tyler, Texas. A memorial service celebrating Amy's life was held at Christ Episcopal Church in Tyler on May 24, 2014. A committal service was held in Prague, Okla., on May 27, 2014. She was buried in the Prague Cemetery, which is surrounded on two sides by her late Kolar grandparents' farm.
Amy attended school in St. Louis, Mo., from kindergarten through graduation at Lindbergh High School. She earned a BBA in fashion merchandising from Baylor University.
Amy had a strong sense of style and a passion for creating beauty. She honed her considerable skills in several buying and designing roles during the early '90s at Harold's in Highland Park Village, Dallas. Her creative legacy lives on in living rooms and bedrooms of the loyal clients she acquired while at Bufe and Babin, Tyler, for more than six years. Amy possessed a joyful spirit and always flew a happy flag in her front yard!
Amy was involved in a wide range of volunteer activities in Dallas and in Tyler. These included the Junior League of Dallas and the Junior League of Tyler, Parent Services board member, Cattle Barons committees, Rose Festival committees, UT Tyler Patriot, Meals On Wheels, PATH and East Texas Food Bank. Amy was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Tyler and served as a Junior High Sunday School teacher as well as the Junior High assistant youth director.
Amy is survived by her loving family and friends. Born to the union of Amy and Timothy Royce Tucker are two children, Lillian Emmons Tucker and Charles Brison Tucker. Also surviving are her parents, Dr. Charles W. Jr. and Diane (Dailey) Kolar; her brother, Dr. Matthew C. Kolar and wife Libby; nephew and nieces, John Maxen, Cecilia Grace and Elizabeth Layne Kolar; an uncle, Dr. William Stanley Kolar; aunts, Richie Dailey Hanes and Barbara Kolar Sands and her husband Chris; first cousins, David M. Dailey Jr. and wife Nancy, Dr. Grant R. and wife Dr. Gina Kolar, Scott E. Tope and wife Rachel, and many other cousins who will deeply miss Amy as well.
Preceding Amy in death were her grandparents, Charles W. Sr. and Elizabeth (Fisher) Kolar, and Dr. Fern M. and Lois (Madison) Dailey; her uncle, David M. Dailey Sr.; and her aunt, Sarah "Sally" Kolar.
Amy was a loving and generous woman. Her final act of generosity was as a registered organ donor. Today many recipients have life because of her gift.
