William G. Hoffman September 24, 2010 by eastwickpress · Cherry Plain - William G. "Bill" Hoffman, 86, of Route 22, Cherry Plain, NY, died on Sunday evening, September 19, 2010, at his home after being stricken. Born in Stephentown, NY, on October 14, 1923, he was the son of the late John H. and Eunice White Hoffman. He was the loving husband of Luella M. Goodermote Hoffman, whom he married on July 24, 1948, in Berlin, NY. A lifelong resident of the area, Bill attended school in a one room schoolhouse in North Stephentown. He served his country in the United States Army in Germany. After his marriage he worked for the Rutland Railroad, as a logger and caretaker of the horses for Arnold Brogue and as a contractor for Art Goodermote. He was employed by the Berlin Central School District retiring in 1985 after 25 years of service. Bill then worked as a groundskeeper at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy until his 77th birthday in 2000. He enjoyed hunting, carpentry and raising farm animals. He was a former member of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Luella, his three sons and their spouses, Gordon H. and Beverly Hoffman of East Poestenkill, NY, Gary W. and Jean Hoffman and Guy L. and Marie Hoffman all of Berlin, a sister, Ruth Atwater of Stephentown, six grandchildren, Greg, Ted, Justin, Courtney, Renee and Wendy, three great-grandchildren, Katie, Camren and Tyler, along with many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He is pre-deceased by siblings Florence Crosier, John Hoffman and Dorothy Miner. Funeral services were on Thursday morning, September 23, at 10 o’clock in the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY 43, Stephentown where Rev. Matthew Olson officiated. Burial followed in the Berlin Community Cemetery. Relatives and friends were invited to the funeral home for visitation on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Berlin Rescue Squad in loving memory of William G. "Bill" Hoffman. |

Allaire, 76, formerly of Mountain Street, and a resident of Indian River Nursing Facility, went into the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ and awaiting to see his wife, Lorraine, and his daughter, Laurie, for a very long time. He died on Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Glens Falls Hospital with his family by his side after a four-year battle with cancer. Born on July 7, 1933, in Morrisville, Vt., he was the son of the late Peter and Helen (Foss) Allaire. Marcel married Lorraine Gordon on Oct. 17, 1959, at Notre Dame des Victories Church in Whitehall. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church and past member of the Parish Counsel when it was known as Notre Dame des Victories Church. Marcel was a Korean War veteran and honorably served his country with pride. He worked for many years as a highway foreman and retired in 1994 from the N.Y. State Department of Transportation in Whitehall. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather to his family and had great pride in doing so. Marcel was often seen with his sidekick "Sophie" doing errands around town. He loved his animals, "Sophie" and "Kole" and they gave him great enjoyment. He enjoyed being an active member of "Ducks Unlimited," which he enjoyed seeing all the grand kids and great grand kids having fun. He also loved to watch golf on television and especially watch when Tiger Woods was playing, loved bird watching, fishing with "Dan" and the kids. He would always go to Gail & Bob’s camp site just to enjoy being outdoors and his trips to Saratoga. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by wife, Lorraine (Gordon) Allaire; his daughter, Laurie Allaire DiLorenzo; his brother, Phillip Allaire; and many other family members. He is survived by his daughter, Gail Duncan and her husband, Robert, of Whitehall; three very special grandchildren, James Lagoy, Christopher DiLorenzo and his fiancé, Chia, and Christin DiLorenzo; his niece, Christine Gebo Gordon, who was his guardian angel who took extra special attention to him while he was in Indian River Nursing Facility; two sisters, Leah Daley of Pennsylvania and Rachel Towers and her husband, Ralph; and brothers, Donald Allaire and his wife, Ramona, Norman Allaire, Levi Allaire and his wife, Bonnie, and Raymond Allaire, all of Vermont; step-grandchildren, Scott Duncan, Brad Duncan, and his wife, Carrie, Tarra Garrow and her husband, Joe, Ross Duncan and his fiancée, Stacee, Keith Duncan, all of Vermont; seven step great grandchildren, Deven, Tamara, Kasara, Hannah, Bryce, Zoe and Mya, all of Vermont; sisters-in-law, Rita Gordon of Whitehall, Edith Gordon of Florida, and Helen Gordon of Pennsylvania; and many special nieces and nephews whom he loved very much and anyone that knew of his spirit and spunk will remember his zest for life. He will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, July 27, at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall with the Rev. Michael Flannery, pastor, officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall. Following the interment, family and friends were invited to a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Parish Hall of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church. Calling hours were held Monday at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Marcel’s name to Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 9 Wheeler Ave., Whitehall, N.Y. 12887 or Domestic Violence, c/o Catholic Charities, 35 Broad Street, Glens Falls, N.Y. 12801. Lola M. Habig Lola M. Habig, 91, of Marysville, KS, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013, at Community Memorial Healthcare, Marysville. Visitation was Friday, February 22, at Kinsley Mortuary, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 23, at the First Christian Church, Marysville. Rev. Jerry Zanker officiated. Deb Landoll played the organ while Staci Haug sang "Heirlooms" and "One Day at a Time." The congregation sang "How Great Thou Art." Tributes of Lola were given by grandchildren Cal Habig, Scott Crosier, Amy Weiss, Aleah Habig, Laurie Crosier. The pallbearers were Doug Ford, Jay Habig, Daren Habig, Cal Habig, Steve Bradley, Scott Crosier and Leo Karnowski. The honorary pallbearers were Logan Haug, Martin Haug, Jim Bradley, Roland Kaiser, Leslie Habig, Jack Kirkland, Keith McMahon, Phil Bradley, Cameron Haug, Mike Duncan, B.G. Weiss and Tony Castellanos. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Lola was born May 14, 1921, at Summerfield, KS, to James and Lillie (Clark) Graham. She was united in marriage to Milton Earl Crosier on September 2, 1943. Milton died January 20, 1953. On February 1, 1955, Lola married Pat Habig. She was a member of the First Christian Church and attended Sunday church service up to her 90th birthday. She helped with funeral dinners, served on the church board and prepared communion. Lola and her two eldest children were baptized together. Lola belonged to the Railroad Retirees Group, was an RSVP Volunteer, volunteered at Marysville Hospital Auxiliary and she received the Volunteer of the Year Award. She was a dedicated member of Al-Anon since 1961. Her home was always full of laughter, and the family enjoyed playing many games. She made the holidays special for her family, and she always remembered the birthdays with a special card and gift. Lola enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing cards, exercising, walking with friends and listening to music. She was an avid KU basketball fan. Spending time with her family and friends is something she looked forward to. Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands; three stepchildren, Jack Habig, Marjorie Karnowski and Kenneth Habig; sisters, Opal Mitschler and Sandy Page; one step-grandson; and one great-grandson. Survivors include children, Duane (Lois) Crosier, Seneca, KS, Judy (Jerry) Ford, Kansas City, and Dennis (Diana) Habig, Marysville; stepdaughter, Patricia Bradley, Texarkana, TX; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
